Staff Profiles

April Woodworth

I was born and raised in the north east of England, United Kingdom. After graduating from high school, I studied to obtain my Childcare Diploma allowing me to work in a variety of Early Childhood settings throughout the UK. While living in the UK I obtained further Early Childcare qualifications, including studies at Greenwich University located in London. Although I found this work to be extremely rewarding and exciting I felt my skills would be better utilised by becoming a trainer in Early Childcare. After immigrating to Brisbane in 2006, I continued to learn and educate myself in various positions. My further studies have lead me to completing a Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood at the Queensland University of Technology. With over 30 years of experience and involvement in the Early Childhood sector, I strive myself on being a compassionate, caring and dedicated teacher.

I started teaching English in China over 17 years ago and have experience teaching General English, Business English and International English Language Test Score (IELTS). As a former IELTS examiner for UQ in Brisbane and the British Council in Beijing I have many tips and strategies that can assist students to gain the exam scores they need. I have experience in IELTS class teaching and also mock exams for students to monitor their progression towards their IELTS goals. My passion is to help students in a friendly and patient manner to achieve their goals but to also welcome them to Australia and give them an insight into the Australian way of life and culture. I can speak some Mandarin Chinese and my hobbies include cooking, travelling, reading and philosophy.

Niki Andresen

I am one of the IELTS trainers at Liberty International College. I have always been interested in how people acquire languages. This extends from my own experiences learning French in Kindergarten, to my chats with international students about where they struggle, to watching TED talks and reading articles to identify the best language learning strategies. I was born and raised in Vancouver, Canada. I studied an Associate of Arts in Global Stewardship at Capilano University, outside of class time I assisted international students with general English and IELTS preparation through a variety of external organisations. From 2012 to 2013, I worked as a teacher in Ghana where I taught English, French, and computer science. While teaching, I completed my Certificate in Community Development and Cross-cultural Communication through correspondence with Cégep Marie-Victorin in Montreal. I moved to Brisbane to complete my Bachelor of Government and International Relations at Griffith University. Throughout my studies I have volunteered and worked helping international students improve their conversational English and develop their academic writing skills. Upon graduating university I was eager to get more international experience, so I earned my TEFL/TESOL certification to properly enter the field of ESL teaching. I ended up working as an English teacher for 6 months in South Korea. Back in Brisbane, I am very excited to help students do their best and reach their goals.
